About GeM catalogue and brand approval
On GeM, buyers find sellers through product and service listings. Each listing sits in a category with its own mandatory specifications, and the platform compares prices and specifications across sellers. A listing that is in the wrong category, has missing specifications or poor images may be rejected or simply never appear in a buyer's search.
Why it matters
For purchases where buyers compare sellers and choose the lowest price, your listing is your shop window. If you sell your own brand, the brand must be approved on GeM before products can be listed. If you resell another company's products, you usually need authorisation from the OEM.
