Vendor assessment
For some product categories, GeM requires manufacturers (OEMs) to complete a vendor assessment before they can list or sell. It is a check of the manufacturing set-up and capability, done through the process and agency named on the portal. Whether it applies, and the current fee and steps, are shown on GeM for your category.
- Check your category's rules on GeM before you plan pricing and timelines.
- Keep factory address, machinery list, quality certificates and photographs ready.
- Resellers usually rely on the OEM's approval and need the OEM's authorisation.
Seller performance
GeM tracks how sellers handle orders, such as late deliveries, rejected supplies and cancellations. Poor performance can lead to action under GeM's terms and conditions, and it affects how buyers see you.
- Accept only orders you can deliver on time.
- Match the delivered item exactly to the ordered specification.
- Respond to buyer queries and incidents quickly and in writing on the portal.
- Upload invoices and delivery proof on time.
