DSC renewal and common errors

Avoid losing a tender because of a signature problem.

When your DSC expires

An expired DSC cannot sign or encrypt bids. In practice, "renewal" means getting a new certificate from a licensed Certifying Authority, often on the same or a new token.

  • Apply at least two weeks before expiry, especially if tenders are due.
  • After you get the new DSC, update or re-register it on every portal you use: CPPP, each state portal and any other e-procurement site.
  • Bids already encrypted with the old certificate can be affected if you change DSCs mid-way; avoid switching during an active bid.

Common errors and fixes

ProblemUsual fix
Token not detectedReinstall the token driver; try another USB port; close other signing software
Signing utility not respondingInstall or update the portal's signer utility; use a supported browser; allow it in browser settings
Certificate not found on portalRegister or map the new DSC to your user ID on that portal
Name mismatchDSC name must match the enrolled authorised signatory
Encryption certificate missingYou need a combo (signing + encryption) DSC for most e-tender portals
Keep your token and PIN with you. Never share the PIN; use a remote session if someone helps you sign.
